Appreciating the Process

Appreciating the Process

I was in the middle of a conversation today when someone else interrupted with “So you you do marketing? Who are your clients? How many clients do you have?”

It got me thinking about how focused we can be on quantifying our version of success, whether it be the number of clients we have, how much money we have, where we live, what school our kids go to, what our title is, the list goes on and on.

I walk by this fruit tree (I think it’s a peach) through all seasons of the year.  I took this photo as it illustrates for me what Appreciating the Process is.  From the buds to the flowers to the eventual fruit, the entire process is beautiful. That’s what I love most about marketing and public relations. It’s the process.

Each client has a different end goal, one may want more visibility for their product(s), another may need to achieve a certain financial goal, another needs to fundraise. That’s where Jaisy Communications can help, so if you’re looking for somebody to walk through that process with, and appreciate that process with, give us a call!

Perspective

Perspective

This is a photo of the steepest hill in Waimea (well, I don’t know that for a fact). What I do know however, is that it is so steep that the local DMV takes student drivers on it for driving tests!

Anyway, it is a hill that I know very well, sometimes I hate it when I find myself at the bottom of the hill, and sometimes I love it once I’m at the top and look back how far I’ve come. It just depends on your perspective I guess.

I was meeting with a client this week about an upcoming event, she had a major details in place, but that was about it. She knew she needed help but wasn’t sure what help she needed.  She was “too close” to it. So what did I do? I listened. I listened to learn and learned to listen. I shared my perspective on how I could help her by seeing her quandary through a different set of eyes.

A situation that seemed so difficult at first (staring at that darn hill from the bottom) is now doable (staring at that amazing hill from the top), thanks to a little perspective.

Are you looking for a some perspective with your business or non profit? Give us a call, we can help!

Do What You Love and Love What You Do

Do What You Love and Love What You Do

“So what do you do?”

This is a question that I’m asked multiple times a day, and for those of you who have a new business or a new job, I am sure you can relate. The name Jaisy Communications can mean a lot of things, so instead of responding with a boring step-by-step analysis of “what I do exactly” I usually find it easier to answer with  “I do what I love and I love what I do, which is to help organizations communicate.”

Most of you are likely doing exactly what you love and loving what you do. But maybe you’re just not sure as to how to communicate what it is that you “do.”  That is where Jaisy Communications comes in, let us help you!   And in the meantime, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Hallmark Holiday, Heart Month, or whatever you would like to call it, here’s to all of us doing what we love and loving what we do!

P.S. In case you are wondering…the photo is a collection of heart shaped rocks my Mom has found over the years during her walks along the beach. It sits on my desk as a daily reminder to find love in everything!

Low-hanging Fruit

Low-hanging Fruit

One of the many great benefits of living in Hawaii is we get to enjoy delicious fruit all year round, even in the middle of winter!  But, I digress…

I was reminded today of how difficult we tend to make things for ourselves. If you’re anything like me, you’ll take a situation, analyze it from eight different angles, then come up with four or five possible outcomes and make a list of solutions depending on the outcome, because “it’s good to be prepared for anything!”

You might have a great product or service that you can’t wait to tell everyone about. And you may have analyzed your marketing/communication strategy from eight different angles. And now you might be staring at a list of solutions to the four or five different outcomes you’re anticipating. Sound familiar?

Why not just give us a call? Let us point out the low hanging fruit in your strategy, not only will we help you see it, but we will help you pick it, and make something pretty great and “fruitful” for your business!

Chasing Rainbows

Chasing Rainbows

I saw a woman walking her dog this afternoon in the rain (or “liquid sunshine” as my grandmother used to call it). After a few minutes of idle chit chat, I pointed out the double rainbow behind her and said “isn’t it beautiful?” She shrugged and said “I wanted to get this walk out of the way before the rain started up again, so you’d better hurry too!” and off she went.

Did I hurry up? No. Did I curse the raindrops pelting my sunglasses? No. Instead, I spent the next hour chasing that rainbow. At times it went from a double to a single rainbow, at one point I saw it directly over a friend’s house!

What a great experience to chase a rainbow, to focus on something beautiful, to believe that there’s goodness around every corner, this rainbow kept me walking for a good hour!  It was a perfect reminder that you can’t have rainbows like this one without a little bit of rain. Here’s hoping you get to chase a rainbow of your own soon ????????

Pressing the pause button

Why do I love this photo? Yes it’s a pretty picture with the blue Pacific, coconut tree swaying in the breeze with not a cloud in the sky. Why I love it so much is it illustrates “pressing the pause button.”

This photo was taken midweek in the middle of the day, a day filled with tons of meetings and other things that needed to be attended to. I was so caught up in what had to be done, the next deadline that had to be met, that I temporarily lost sight of the bigger picture.  And what a great gift it was to take a moment, press the pause button, rest and reflect, if only for a few minutes!   Perhaps you can relate.

If you can relate, and are in need of some assistance in pressing the pause button with your public relations and marketing strategies and would like someone to help you refocus on the bigger picture of your business, contact us, we can help!

I was speaking with a client recently about her company and goals she would like to achieve. As we talked through her marketing strategy I said, “Let’s fish where the fish are.” Have any of you heard this saying before?

I grew up deep sea fishing with my Dad (hence posting this photo of one of my favorite days on the water), and one of the lessons I learned was if you hook up to a fish, there’s no sense in hightailing it out of there to search for the next one, why not stick around and see what else comes to the surface?

Same holds true for your marketing strategies. You know your product, you know your demographic, so why recreate the wheel? Just fish where the fish are! We can help you do that, give us a call, we are here to help you set those lines in the water and see what comes to the surface!
